The Vow and the Void

The Vow

Too long apart alone in thought;
Depressive and addictive, the music of the mind …
But hopes of New Beginnings now throw the past behind;
New dreams are wrought, new ways are taught.
New wars be fought.
New oaths are sworn …
Behold a man reborn.

The Void

I was – I thought — a man reborn;
Remastered will, refashioned form …
New wars I’d fight, new oaths I’d swear.
New powers I would bring to bear
On the new path stretched out ahead
That promised change. Again mislead.
Now broken down beyond repair.
A soul withered and stripped bare.
The book is CLOSED, all come to nought.
No place for hope, no room for thought:
the war is lost, the fights all fought.
